Dave Drew, 47 years young, and a life long Woodbury County resident with 26 years of law enforcement experience at the federal, county and municipal levels, is announcing his candidacy as the Republican for Woodbury County Sheriff.
Dave has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and has held assignments with the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office in Patrol, Investigations, and Civil Process. Dave was Woodbury County’s very first DARE Instructor in 1989. After serving five years with the DARE program, Dave volunteered to assist in the newly formed Tri-State Drug Task Force, a collaboration between federal, state, county, and local law enforcement personnel from Northwest Iowa, Northeast Nebraska, and Southeast South Dakota. During Dave’s eight-year stint with the Task Force, the unit was credited with taking down multiple large drug organizations reaching across the country and into Mexico. Drug and money seizures reached into the millions of dollars. The success of the unit garnered nationwide acclaim with the Drug Enforcement Administration and as a result, other drug task force units were modeled after the Tri-State Task Force in Sioux City, Iowa. Dave’s record shows he has never been afraid to take on new challenges, run with them, and succeed.
Dave has a vision for the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office. He is ready to put energy, time, and accountability into the day-to-day operations of the Sheriff’s Office. Dave has a plan to cut the excess spending from the operating budget and combine services to hold the line on labor costs. More importantly however, Dave is ready to use his experience to aggressively combat crime in Woodbury County to improve the quality of life for everyone.
